Autumn 2025 Engagement on College House

College House, Queen Elizabeth's School Western Road Campus is a large red-brick building with arched windows and peaked roofs, it sits in a lush green yard. Overhanging tree branches frame the sunny, peaceful scene.

A key part of this long-term ambition is the transformation of College House. College House is a Grade II listed building in the centre of Crediton and a central part of our Western Road Campus. Built in 1859, it is typical of gothic revival architecture.

In July, we took the difficult decision to temporarily close College House, due to the condition of the building, and we are beginning the process of carrying out essential repair work to this listed building.

We are exploring options to repair and modernise College House in line with its heritage status, and any additional funding streams that this will require. A key element of this will be the provision of arts education for the school and community. We are conscious of the architectural importance of College House and its potential as a facility that could be used in the future by both students and the wider community.

We want our community to be part of shaping our vision from the start. This Autumn, we have launched a series of family and community drop-in events to give people an opportunity to find out more about our early ideas and share their thoughts on how this opportunity can meet the needs of students and the Crediton community.
