QE Students Celebrate A-Level Success and Ambitious Next Steps
Proud Day at Queen Elizabeth’s School as Sixth Formers Collect Results.
Sixth Form students at Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE) have collected their results today (14th August).
The school, which is part of the Ted Wragg Trust, has a rich and proud history serving Crediton and the surrounding villages since 1547. QE is an ambitious school dedicated to providing students with an excellent education that develops their knowledge, character, contribution and wisdom.
This year, a fantastic fifth of all A Level grades awarded were at A*/A and three quarters of students for applied grades received a Distinction.
Anna Bayley, a former Ted Wragg Trust Awards Student of the Year nominee, secured the highest A-Level grades within the school, a feat she also achieved at GCSE. With top marks in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, Anna now goes on to study Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge.
After gaining A-Levels in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Further Mathematics, Alice Place is heading to Durham University to study Mathematics. Another student pursuing Mathematics, this time at Loughborough University, is Alice Coren.
Johan Fraiquin, who has studied A-Levels in Business Studies, Geography and Physics, is taking a gap year before starting pilot training.
Euan Ripper is spending a year in Vermont undertaking an unpaid voluntary engineering internship with Hack Club, the US-based non-profit who helped him to establish a robotics club at school.
Sam Barker, Head Boy at QE said “the teachers at QE are amazing and so supportive, and Sixth Form has given me lots of opportunities to develop my academic and practical skills as well as my confidence.” Sam now takes up a place at Drama School.
The Sixth Form at QE offers excellent teaching alongside an extensive extra-curricular programme designed to develop confidence and skills in students. Over the past year, students have participated in an exciting array of enrichment activities including a Euroscola session in Strasbourg as part of the European Parliament's Ambassador Schools network, engaging in debates and a Q&A session with the Vice-President of the European Parliament.
Over the past two years, Sixth Form students have embraced every opportunity with open arms and have participated in the Royal Society of Chemistry's UK Chemistry Olympiad, charity work, fundraising, volunteering in the school and wider community, mentoring younger students, work experience and creative and sporting activities.
Ms Paula Smith, Headteacher at Queen Elizabeth’s School said:
