We provide extensive additional support for students in several different areas:
These services are headed up by Chris Darvill on our Barnfield Campus and Alex Kirkbride on our Western Road Campus. They are supported by a wide range of colleagues including Year Team Leaders, Tutors, an independent careers counsellor, the school nursing service, our counsellor, the Attendance Officer, Safegarding Officers and Home School Liaison Officers.
Where students are struggling with an aspect of their behaviour, then we provide support to help them get over their difficulties. An important part of this support involves having very clear expectations and strong guidance, backed up where necessary with sanctions. Whatever we do though, we endeavour to be firm, fair, friendly and consistent. All of these approaches are described in the Behaviour Strategy.
Students can refer themselves to our Counsellors if they are having personal difficulties that they would like to talk to a trained adult about. In all but the most serious circumstances, these conversations will be confidential.
For a range of health advice, including sexual health, we also have School Nurses available at certain times on both sites. Our School Nurse has been working with us for a long time now and has excellent links with school staff and students.
