With the shift to online learning over the last few months, many students, especially those with SEND, are finding it difficult to keep up with tasks and deadlines. Microsoft Office 365, which can be accessed through your child's school email account, offers two excellent resources which can support reading and writing online:
Immersive Reader allows users to 'hear' text, which can be copied and pasted (from worksheets or students' own writing) into Word and then 'read' back.
Dictate allows users to speak aloud to the computer, which will transcribe their words direct into a Word document. This can be a real benefit when producing written work to hand in online to teachers.
QE Learning Coach Sarah Dickinson has produced these excellent guides, which you can find below, on how to use both functions.
We hope you enjoy trying out these resources with your child. Please note that all our Teaching Assistants are expert users of these technologies, so please do ask for help from the SEND team if you would like to know more.
