"Mathematics knows no races or geographic boundaries; for mathematics, the cultural world is one country." - David Hilbert
Mathematics is fundamental to us as humans. It is all around us and we encounter and use it in all aspects of life every day, at home, in our communities, at work. It connects all of us around the world. At QE we see mathematics as not just a collection of skills but as a way of thinking and as a global language. We aim to inspire our students to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and to use its logic skilfully and creatively to solve problems in school and throughout life.
Mathematics is essential to science, technology and engineering and essential for financial literacy and most forms of employment. A sound grasp of mathematics helps to make our lives orderly and prevent chaos. It helps us to understand our world and enables us to innovate to improve it. In Maths at QE students and staff work together collaboratively to achieve sound knowledge and understanding for all in an environment of mutual respect.
