The all new Crediton Learning Community Primary Sports Partnership launched on Wednesday 18th October at Queen Elizabeth’s School, and gymnastics was on the menu for over 200 Year 3 & 4 students from local primary schools.
The QE Gymnastics Festival held workshops for Year 3 & 4 pupils from Landscore, Yeoford, Cheriton Bishop, Tedburn, Bow, and Sandford Primary Schools. 50 of QE’s Year 9 students hosted the event, leading a series of different activities. The Year 9 students are part of QE’s Sports Leadership Programme. The workshops they ran taught new skills to the Year 3 & 4’s such as rolling, travelling, balancing and flight.
Mr Gillon said “Our Year 9 students did a brilliant job in leading and coaching the Year 3 and 4 pupils, they were supportive, professional and entertaining, giving our visitors a great experience. Our primary school students picked up new skills really well and the event was a great success!”
The Gymnastic Festival was the first event in a series of 6, the next event will be QE’s Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby Festival which will be held on the 22nd November 2017.
