On Friday 10th November, QE took part in the ELF Trust Girls Cup football tournament, along with over 150 girls from other schools. The QE U13 team had a great result and have made it through to the regional finals. Jessica Sandland, a Year 8 student at QE and Captain of the U13 Girls Football Team commented:
“On Friday 10 November 2017 we travelled to Exeter University to play a football tournament. It was a real privilege to Captain the team at this event.
We had 9 players Jessica Vodden, Katie Salter, Maddie Taylor, Hollie Seward, Nicola Robinson, Ellie Bishop, Flora O’Sullivan, Talitha Roche and myself.
We played 4 qualifying 6 a side games of a flat 10 minutes. We drew the first game 1-1, the second game we drew 0-0, third game we won 6-0 and the fourth game we won 2-1. This qualified us for the quarter finals where we went up against West Exe school and won 3-1 in a great performance against a really strong team. We progressed to the semi-finals and the game ended 0-0 so we had to decide it on penalties which we won 2-0.
The final was another tough game which ended 1-1 but it was good as we had the girls from West Exe cheering us on. Again it was decided on penalties and we won 1-0. It was a fantastic day and we all played well as a team. We are all looking forward to going to Bristol to compete at the regionals in January.”
Great effort girls!
