QE Releases 2019 GCSE Results

Grades Reflect Strong Success Across the School

Crediton, Thursday 22 August, 2019: There was a fantastic atmosphere and many happy, smiling faces at QE this morning as students celebrated their GCSE results success.

Principal Rupert Poole said: “At QE we set out to empower our students through the education they receive here and this morning is the culmination of a lot of hard work. I don’t think I have ever seen the hall so busy with students eager to collect their results as soon as the doors opened. It was lovely to see them all sharing their results with each other, parents and teachers. We are particularly delighted that one of our students, Michael Lambourne, joins the very exclusive group of only 800 students nationally to achieve all grade 9s, a truly incredible achievement.”

Mr Poole added: “Make no mistake, the massive reforms to the GCSE’s that we have seen over recent years has deliberately been done to make them more difficult. Despite the increased challenge we have seen many great successes for all students. For example, we have seen an increase in the top grades awarded in English to over 21% so our students deserve to be congratulated on their significant achievements. On behalf of all the staff here at QE, I would like to congratulate them individually, but also as a year group, they have been great to work with. I would like to thank all the staff, parents and carers for their hard work supporting the students through these demanding times.”

QE takes great pride in being an inclusive school and has seen many individual successes across the broad range of subjects that the school offers. Mr Poole went on to say: “We are determined to maintain our diverse curriculum, as this is an essential part of the broad and balanced education that we offer here at QE and prepares our students well for the future, whatever path they choose to take.”

Today’s GCSE results come a week after very pleasing ‘A’ level results last week. QE looks forward to welcoming many existing QE students, and indeed students from other local schools, into the Sixth Form in September. Enrolment day is the 3rd September at the Western Road Campus.
