Two Additional Events and Five New Schools Get on Board

Queen Elizabeth’s School has kicked off its Crediton Learning Community Sports Partnership for 2018/19 with two brand new events and five additional primary schools on the team.

The partnership with local primary schools, launched by QE last year, is going from strength to strength. Running from October 2018 to July 2019, the Partnership offers a diverse range of extra-curricular sports to primary school students from Years 3-6.

Heading up the partnership is Ross Gillon, PE Teacher at QE, who said; “We are very happy to welcome five new primary schools this year, Thorverton, Brampford Speke, Cheriton Fitzpaine, Newton St Cyres, and Winkleigh. This takes us to 13 participating schools, which is just fantastic. We are also offering two new great events, High 5’s Netball and a Gifted and Talented Day, alongside Tag Rugby, Gymnastics, Multi-skills, Orienteering, Athletics Day and Rounders & Cricket. We look forward to building fitness and confidence through sport, for more children across Mid Devon.”

The Partnership aims to:
• Nurture a love of sports
• Increase participation in extra-curricular sports at local Primary Schools
• Increase activity levels at lunch times in Primary Schools through the Young Leaders Program
• Offer a pathway to young sports leaders from primary to secondary and beyond
• To assist transition by increasing familiarity between primary students and QE

The partnership also offers Young Leader training for years 5 & 6 to lead lunchtime activities in the playground and Outdoor Occasional Days, such as Kayaking and Climbing.
