On Wednesday 11th January, more than 300 students, guests and staff gathered at QE’s Barnfield Campus to enjoy our annual Celebration Evening - an event that celebrates the wonderful successes that some of our devoted students have achieved throughout the academic year of 2015 – 2016.
We believe in nurturing and recognising our students’ success, not just in terms of academic achievement, but also for their valued contributions to school life, community involvement and participation in a wide range of co-curricular activities.
170 awards, within 13 categories, were presented to delighted students throughout Year 7 - Year 13 of the 2016 graduation. This meant that we welcomed back some faces from last year’s Year 13, some of whom have started careers or studies at their chosen universities.
The guest speaker was Chris Jones, a former pupil who gave a wonderful speech on life ‘beyond QE’. The evening also saw a classical performance of ‘Allegro from Sonata No.1’ by our talented students Megan Phillips and Sam Hatchell, and a highly anticipated extract from QE’s Theatre Academy’s upcoming production of West Side Story.
Gareth Twigg, a parent of one of our award winning students said ‘Thank you for a really great and inspiring evening. I thoroughly enjoyed it.’
Peter Bryan, a QEEF trustee, said ‘The evening was very enjoyable, thanks to all involved, particularly the students themselves.’
A fantastic night was had by all! Well done to all our nominated students for their wonderful contributions, achievements and successes throughout the school and wider community.
Our guiding principles are ‘Education to Empower’ and ‘Always Progressing’, which our Celebration Evening maintains, supports and promotes.
