Consultation on a proposal to close the boarding provision at Queen Elizabeth’s School and amend the admission arrangements relating to boarding.
After careful consideration and with regret the Trustees of Queen Elizabeth’s School are consulting on a proposal to close the school’s boarding provision with effect from August 2019, after the end of the 2018/19 academic year and consequently to amend the admission arrangements to remove references to boarding.
Please read the consultation documents below for the rationale and background to the proposal.
A public meeting was held on Thursday 29th November 2018 in the College Café on our Western Road Campus EX17 3LU. Representatives of the Board of Trustees and the Principal listened carefully to views and answered questions regarding the proposal.
The stakeholder consultation closed at 5pm on Friday 4th January 2019. Trustees have now considered the submissions and the outcome of the initial stage of the consultation process is detailed in the letter below.
As outlined in the consultation document a staff and Union consultation will now be undertaken and approval for the proposal sought from the Department for Education (DfE). Trustees anticipate being able to confirm the outcome of the application to the DfE and the staff and Union consultation process by the end of February 2019.
