Consultation on a proposal to close the boarding provision at Queen Elizabeth’s School and amend the admission arrangements relating to boarding.
March 7th 2019 - After careful consideration and extensive consultation the Trustees of Queen Elizabeth’s School have decided, with regret, to close the school’s boarding provision with effect from August 2019, after the end of the 2018/19 academic year.
The staff and union consultation closed on 22nd February. Trustees at their meeting on 4th March unanimously decided to confirm the closure of boarding contingent on receiving approval from the Department for Education (DfE).
Subsequently we received confirmation from the DfE that they have approved the proposal to close the school’s boarding provision with effect from August 2019, after the end of the 2018/19 academic year.
Please read the consultation documents below for the rationale and background to the proposal.
A public meeting was held on Thursday 29th November 2018 in the College Café on our Western Road Campus EX17 3LU. Representatives of the Board of Trustees and the Principal listened carefully to views and answered questions regarding the proposal.
