Crediton Learning Community Musical Spectacular

On 23rd March QE joined forces with their partner primary schools in the Crediton Learning Community (CLC) to put on a large scale music event at the Great Hall, Exeter University. Each school performed an item from the stage and screen to a packed auditorium.

In addition to the singing pieces there was also an appearance from the CLC instrumentalists - a combination of members of the Crediton Youth Orchestra and other primary age musicians who joined in for the event. The acts were accompanied by a band of QE musicians and the cast of the QE Theatre Academy, who performed one of the scenes from QE’s successful West Side Story production.

Overall the event was a huge success and sold more tickets than any previous year.

QE music teacher and co-founder of the Crediton Youth Orchestra, Lucy Welsman, explained that "this kind of collaborative event is a really effective way of nurturing the musical talent in our local area. It gives the younger musicians the opportunity to play alongside the older ones so they get to see the progression that can be made. It's also valuable for the older students and not to mention a great chance to work closely with our partner schools".
